From July 2020 to September 2021, I taught data science and machine learning remotely for edX during the pandemic. Across 900+ students at Vanderbilt, UC Berkeley, and 24+ other universities, the work was simple to describe and hard to do well: turn intimidating technical material into the next clear move.
These representative projects came into sessions from universities across the country. They span prediction systems, dashboards, data visualization, and applied analytics—the point where a lesson has to become something useful.
The clearest signal was repeatable progress: more technical confidence, stronger project execution, and a clearer grasp of difficult concepts.
